Inside the belly of the whale

To continue the metaphor, I'll call this "Inside the belly of the whale."  This view is part of the galley area and looking back toward Bob's bunk. You can see the microwave, refrigerator, sink.
This next photo is of our mascot Douglas.  I found Douglas hanging around at Kamala and figured he might like to ride about the country.  Douglas is so named because of a tag from his manufacturer.

Almost Ready

We are driving to Alaska! 7 exciting weeks of togetherness, fabulous vistas and campgrounds.

The Beluga is packed except for perishables and that final panic packing of the last 80 pounds or so of must have stuff. "OMG, what if we need ------?" Fill in the blank with any of the following: snowshoes, 10 pounds of potatoes, more jackets, etc.

Why Beluga? It's big and white and has a lump on top, and it handles like a whale. It takes 5 maneuvers for a U turn.  However, we love it.  This is a 2003 Roadtrek built on a Chevy van frame. The conversion is done in Canada. Inside it is crafted like a cabin cruiser with wooden cabinets and cubbyholes tucked in all available spaces.  If we maintain under 63 MPH, we can get about 14 MPG.

Leaving Holliston Monday evening 7/29 after supper.  We will drive to NY State halfway to Niagara.  Next Blog and photo at the falls.
